Shangri-la at the Fort Manila – Short but Sweet Stay with Family

October 31, 2017

Two birthdays (Fred’s and mine) and a wedding anniversary, these are what we’re celebrating every September. For this year, we had a lunch buffer on the day of our anniversary and supposedly another staycation within Cebu. However, I received a bloggers’ event invite to be held in Manila, and since it’s September, I brought along my whole family with me. Yeah I know, a quite huge amount of money is needed especially for the airfare but thankfully we were able to manage.

Our first night in Manila was one of the moments we want to experience, again and again, especially our Louise who loves staying in hotels. We got the chance to stay at Shangri-la at the Fort Manila. Upon entrance to the hotel, this was what greeted us, their very elegant lobby. What’s more attracting was their giant chandelier that even Louise requested a photo!

Our room was even more impressive, it was one of their Deluxe High Street View Rooms. The interiors and the room color scheme presented a very relaxing atmosphere. A person who’s stressed should certainly consider this place as a weekend treat, to relax and recharge.

Hotel bed is one of the things we look forward to every time we stay in a hotel. My only problem with bed though is that it’s so comfortable that it’s hard to wake up early. Look at dear husband here, he didn’t want to go up very early but he had no choice because Louise was already very excited to go to Kidzania that day.

In the morning, we were able to enjoy this overlooking view of the city. It was so calm to look at that you won’t notice any presence of traffic in that area!

The room came with a buffet breakfast at one of the hotel’s restaurants, the High Street Cafe. As we enter the place, this was what we noticed, a great artwork that Louise did not miss for a photo.

Too bad I wasn’t able to take enough good photos of their food but I assure you, all taste great. I only had this one photo though which is quite clearer, their bread and pastries one should never miss!

From the title of this article, our stay here was indeed very short. We arrived a bit later in the afternoon, had a quick stroll in Bonifacio High Street for dinner. And then when we went back to our room, kids were sleepy already and I was busy planning and booking for the coming days. When we woke up in the morning, there was not enough time to go swimming and check their playroom (I’m not even sure if they have one).  Luckily, Louise and I were at least able to have a view of the swimming pool before checking out that morning.

There was an outdoor playground but too bad my Louise couldn’t play. I was happy though that she understood our situation and gladly said we’ll just go back next time (very easy for her to say, haha!).

Shangri-la at the Fort is indeed a very nice place to stay when you’re anywhere within Bonifacio Global City (BGC). It was so ‘nakakabitin’ for us that hubby Fred told me to really go back there, to also discover the other things BGC has to offer.

Here’s a short video by the way during our hotel stay. Enjoy watching, please don’t forget to subscribe!
