I had fun watching Disney’s Snow White (live-action musical) with Tina last weekend and here’s my take:

- I think I was one of those who commented about Rachel Zegler’s physical appearance not fitting Snow White’s role but after watching the film, I understand Disney’s intention. This movie is quite different from the original story – here, Snow White was given the name not because of her physical appearance, and you’ll know the reason when you watch the movie.
- One of my favourite parts was Snow White singing the song “Whistle While You Work” with the 7 Dwarves. Watching the scene was so fun that it gave me the idea to play the song at home while doing chores with my kids. I don’t know, that feeling na pagod na pagod ka na but hindi tayo Disney Princess, I think it’s the perfect song background.
- It’s a musical version so get ready for a lot of singing scenes. To be honest, I’m still having an LSS of their song “Waiting On A Wish”. And who would have thought Gal Gadot can sing? She’s just amazing!
- Is it just me or what, but I didn’t expect na mabibitin ako sa movie. Like I wanted to see more from Snow White and Jonathan. I also wanted to see more of her ruling the kingdom. Iyong nabuild na ang characters and already resonated with the viewers, then suddenly, it’s minutes towards the ending. The ending’s great actually, I just started loving them that I wanted more.
- Snow White is not the kind of princess here who needs her prince as the “Knight in shining armor” ready to save her. It’s already 2025, Disney made sure to make such changes promoting women empowerment. For me, as someone who grew up seeing prince characters, I quite don’t like this shift though. Thankfully, I feel the love between Snow White and Jonathan (her love interest) in this movie. Iyong kilig while watching the animated Rapunzel movie, nafeel ko dito so I think their love team is a YES for me!
Disney’s Snow White is now showing in the cinemas, watch na!
