Tong Yang Plus at SM Seaside for our Anniversary Dinner

When it comes to anniversary celebration, Hubby Fred and I prefer staycations. Last year, we checked-in at Bai Hotel Cebu for a double celebration, to also celebrate Fred’s birthday.

This year, we decided to celebrate simply because we already spent big from our Hongkong-Macau Family trip last month. We haven’t tried Shabu-shabu yet so I thought why not we enjoy our time together while cooking! Tong Yang Plus came to my mind, it opened just last March 23 at SM Seaside City Cebu.

Tong Yang Plus is a restaurant that offers unlimited barbecue and shabu-shabu. It’s actually the country’s largest barbecue and shabu-shabu chain, owned and managed by the same group who owns Vikings Luxury Buffet.

We only had 2 hours for our date so we arrived at the restaurant minutes before their opening schedule. See below for their operating hours, we were given reservation number 1 and waited for 5:30PM.

Monday — Friday
Lunch: 11:00 am – 2:30 pm
Dinner: 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Saturday — Sunday
Lunch: 11:00 am – 2:30 pm
Dinner: 5:30 pm – 9:00 pm

By the time they opened and we were guided inside, this pretty spot right here welcomed us. I really loved the lighting and the seaview!

We chose the spot beside the wall though, I liked it more for our pictures.

It was out first Shabu-shabu experienced so we have no idea how to cook for it but thankfully, their staff are very accommodating and explained well to us their different available soup base and how to do the hotpot: Laksa soup, pork, sate, sinigang, spicy mala soup, vegetable soup, seafood and Chinese herb. We chose the Sate soup and Seafood soup.

For their meat and seafood, they look very fresh! I’m just quite disappointed though kase they didn’t have crab that time. But we had a wonderful experience while grilling and cooking, and they also have several sauces to choose from.

Don’t worry if you arrive in the restaurant very hungry, they have already-cooked food naman, their pansit and shrimp tempura, for example, will keep your mouth busy while you’re cooking and grilling.

Make sure to give your tummy some space for desserts because they have it as well. The place was indeed worth-it for our 2-hour date. Fred and I talked a lot of things while cooking, aliw na aliw lang. And of course, we left the place super full, sulit for their rates below:

Verdict: It’s a very good place for a celebration and some bonding moments with family and friends. Their hot plate grill in every table are safe, I’m sure the kids will also enjoy grilling some meat. Just be careful though with the mini pot, nobody wants to accidentally touch it right?
